“I always feel like I’ve come home.”
I’ve lived at the Echelon of Tucson for over two years and I just love it here. The residents are friendly and I have made some really good and comfortable friends. The activities are plentiful and interesting. The atmosphere is very welcoming and I always feel like I’ve come home. Yes, my adorable little apartment is my permanent home.
“The Echelon of Tucson saved my dad’s life!”
The past couple of years have been very tough for my father. He was once a well liked and well known attorney here in Tucson. He was happily married to his high school sweetheart and had a beautiful well kept home, but in the blink of an eye all that was stripped away. He spent two years trying to salvage what was left of his life and at only 67 years of age I tired to reassure him that he still had a lot of life left to live. He was so upset by the magnitude of his losses that he slipped into deep depression that left him hopeless and nearly immobile. I discovered The Echelon of Tucson and with much hesitation I contacted online chat. My hesitation was based on horrible rumors of retirement communities how unhappy people are that live in them. I was scared–was this going to hurt his sensitive situation and make things worse or was I doing the right thing? Later that day I was contacted by Liz Olsen (associate of Echelon). She was absolutely the most friendly, caring, passionate woman I had ever been in contact with. She truly wanted to help me with my situation when she found out how desperate I was. It was because of Liz that I chose the Echelon and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Shortly after I was introduced to much of the staff–everyone from the cleaning crew to the maintenance crew to the kitchen staff– everything has been nothing but terrific. My father has lived here now for a month and it brings tears to my eyes to see how happy he is again! There was a period of time I thought there wasn’t a light at the end of this tunnel, but I was wrong. All of the residents welcomed him warmly, ate meals with him during his first few days and invited him to join in activities on the grounds. If you are looking for a nice, affordable, independent home for your loved one I highly, highly recommend the Echelon of Tucson!
“‘…there is no utopia,’ but the Echelon comes pretty close.”
My name is Frank. My wife Carol and I moved into the Echelon of Tucson in July of 2013. This was only after we checked out at least ten other retirement communities and had lunch at four of them. First let me say that the number one reason we chose the Echelon of Tucson was the people here. We were made to feel at home and like a member of the family from day one. No other community gave us this feeling. There are many shopping options within walking distance, and transportation to take you anywhere else you’d like to go. The Echelon of Tucson is the only community we found that is open to beautiful court yards and grounds. All the others we checked out are like hotels where you open your front door into a hallway. When we open our front door, we see a courtyard with roses and a water fountain open to the blue sky. But when you go out, you are still under cover and can walk anywhere within the complex and be protected from the sun and rain. The Echelon is a retirement community that offers three full Chef-prepared meals a day, a beautiful movie theater with 80-inch screen, a great library, sitting areas, and we even have an ice cream parlor. We also have a great swimming pool, spa, and a dog park where our dogs can run free and play. The Echelon is also one of the few communities that includes a washer and dryer in most of the apartments. We have about the best activities director you could ask for with weekly social hours, games, holiday and birthday celebrations, cards, and more!
We had a good friend that always told us, “there is no utopia”, but the Echelon comes pretty close. If you are 55 or older and want a beautiful and friendly place to live, let me tell you friend, this is it. Come visit and have lunch, I think you’ll find what we found… the gold pot at the end of the rainbow!
